Goodbye to Berlin Project/ Diversity

To begin the project of 'Goodbye to Berlin', I read the book 'Goodbye to Berlin' by author Christopher Isherwood. His story tells us about the gathering storm during the rise to the power of the Nazis. He has written this book seen through the eyes of a series of different individuals at this time showing us the brutal effect on public events at this time on private lives. This books allows you to experience and feel what it was like at this time and engage on the different lifestyles of different characters surrounding Berlin. There was a range of distinctive characters that surrounded Berlin who came from many of different areas of the world who came to express there individuality and also sexual freedom.  My favourites character of the book was the character Sally Bowles who's character is based on Anita Berber her character makes the book more exciting and interesting and leaves you wondering about her crazy character and what she will do next.
For this project I will be looking at how beauty is individual and the fact it is not restricted by age, skin tone, size or shape. The starting point of this project will be based around the book 'goodbye to Berlin' leading into further research looking mainly at diversity experimenting and researching further in to what diversity is and means, finally leading into creating 3 final images celebrating diversity and the human form.
